We can offer many varieties of radicchio and we change the production areas to guarantee an excellent product all year long.

From September to June radicchio has a predominant role in our work. It is cultivated in the geographic areas between Chioggia (near Venice) and Rosolina in the province of Rovigo, in the hinterland, where there are particular climatic conditions that have allowed over time the selection of current crops, enhancing their organoleptic peculiarities.

Our radicchio is divided in three types:

  • ROUND RADICCHIO: round shape, red of variable intensity with white ribs. It is the most cultivated and consumed in Italy and is the most savoury variety at all. It is mostly used in mixed salads due to its bitter taste and crunchiness.
  • EARLY LONG RADICCHIO: elongated shape and dark-red colouring. It has a more bitter taste and an average crunchy texture.
  • LATE LONG RADICCHIO: has long and narrow leaves, almost pointed and an intense red complexion. It stands out for its crunchiness and texture.

RADICCHIO PGI FROM CHIOGGIA

Radicchio lends itself to all nutritional regimes. It can be consumed in all ways: cooked, raw, in first courses, as a slide dish, in sweet or savoury dishes. It has a very low caloric intake and contains potassium, vitamins and a high percentage of water, which makes it an extremely purifying food.

Our company is an active member of the Consortium for the preservation of the Radicchio PGI from Chioggia since its birth; it has concentrated all its efforts to commercialize an exclusive product in all Europe, fruit of the selection of a seed with particular morphological characteristics and characterized by a bright red colour and a bitter taste, as well as for the numerous health potentials and for the nutritional values it contains.

Since the early 80’s PEF has been exporting and making known the radicchio typical of our area throughout Europe and other parts of the world, making it appreciated by the main customers of both the distribution sector and Ho.Re.Ca.  In fact, thanks to its lively colour and its durability (long life) is increasingly consumed and required not only by regular consumers, but also by the catering industry. The chefs appreciate the flexibility that distinguishes the radicchio from the production area of Chioggia. 

We are able to produce, process, package radicchio on various sizes and types packaging to meet the most varied needs of customers and we manage to deliver throughout Europe fresh product 12 months a year. All begin from our plant in Chioggia.

We are therefore excellent partners for the main Italian and foreign distribution chains, always able to ensure a fresh product and to respect the customer’s specific demands in terms of quality and quantity. Not only large industries, but also specialist shops, importers and distributors.
